In 1985, Commodore released the Amiga 1000 and the computer world never be the same.
The Amiga featured co-processors to handle video, audio, and disk input/output tasks, leaving the CPU available for just computational tasks. This made Amigas incredibly efficient machines, in spite of the fact that their CPU clock-speed was slightly slower than some competitors. The Amiga set-the-bar for future computer design – centered around multimedia hardware and with a multitasking operating system. More than that, the Amiga was simply a fun computer to use, in contrast to the utilitarian feel of Windows or DOS.
